Is there ever a dish that reminds you of your childhood? A dish that has a special memory to you?
Well for me, this dish has always brings me back to when I was a kid, my mum would make it for me whenever I got a cough.
This special dish I’d like to share with you is Crystal Sugar with Pears. It’s a home remedy for a cough.
1 Chinese Pear, small chucks of crystal sugar
1. Cut the pear into small chunks and remove its skin and pit.
2. Place pear chunks in a pot with 3 to 4 cups of water, along with the small chunks of crystal sugar.
3. Bring the water to boil, then turn the stove to a lower heat and simmer until the pears are fully cooked (tasted really soft).
4. Wait for it to cool off a bit before consuming. If you don’t like the taste of rock candy
use honey instead, but be sure to add the honey after the mixture is cooled off
so the heat doesn’t destroy the nutrients in the honey.
